The Learning Network - New York Times

By Ana Puerto and Cristina de Vega

I've recently found this website. It has plenty of resources to use in class: topics to approach with more advanced students; contests; writing prompts; vocabulary challenges; quizzes...

https://www.nytimes.com/section/learning

Another section of this website that can be useful is "What's going on in this picture?". Students can describe the pictures and join a discussion about them by leaving comments or their opinion.

Another website similar to that one that I think you may already know is the one of BBc learning English

I personally like the idioms part... It cannot get more British than that lol

Also the 7 minute video with up to date news a text and questions are always really good.

It is also interesting because it is classified by levels so very easy to go through

Fiction Express

By Beatriz González

Fiction express is a website to encourage reading among our students! They can read in English as well as Spanish. The author writes a chapter and gives students 3 different ways of countinuing the story! Students vote and he continues writing next chapter as students chose. They have quizzes, activities and can even talk on a forum to the author as well as other students. It's really interesting! We got it in our school for free thanks to la Junta de Castilla y León and we are using it this school year in both, English and Spanish.

Hope this helps as you have already talked about all the resources I use on my classes!

Museums' visiting apps

By Alejandro Gil

Recently I've discovered that many museums have developed apps that you can download on your phone to guide you in your visit; perhaps is a way to save paper and to catch digital young people...

Almost everyone you can choose your language, Spanish or English.

In fact, for this first week after the holidays, I've prepared an activity for my class of technology of 1st of Bach. with the app of the Spanish industrial heritage: as Kristina told us, I made a list with strange names; they had to choose one: they were all related to carbon, mining or steel industry, that is our current lesson; all the names appear in the app. After that I told them about the app: they had to download it and look for their industrial heritage. They have to make a brief of all the content that is in the app and become experts about it. Tomorrow they'll have to tell the rest of the class about his industrial monument and show us some pics on google.
The evaluation is half the exposition and half a kahoot about the pics they will have to make at the end of the presentations.

By Cristina de Vega

Hello! I think most of the museums have that option right now, I am sending you the link to the ones that I use in class and it is full of Augmented Reality. So this visits mix the interest for the place, the concepts of whatever we are trying to learn but also we go into the digital world with AR.

Baamboozle

By Verónica Aguirre

This is an AWESOME web page. It is totally free and it has everything you can think of for English teachers or even teachers of different subjects in English. Besides, you can have them answer the questions one by one or play in teams, which they love!

Wordwall

By Verónica Aguirre

Wordwall is an amazing website for students. You can play with them projecting it for the whole class or sending them the link of the activities they must do. They love it!

You just need to register and it is totally free. There are different games and you can also create some (if you want to create a lot you will have to pay for this). There, you can find spinning wheels, definition games, who wants to be millionaire, questionnaires...
